New 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Review, Release Date, Redesign

New 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Review, Release Date, Redesign – We have driven and seen the new 11th-generation Honda Civic sedan. The new Honda Civic hatchback is a more traditional body style, much like Elon Musk’s controversy and night follows day.

First and foremost, there will be a stickshift Civic Hatchback. This is not only for the entry-level models. Three-pedal enthusiasts can choose from either the 2.0-liter base engine or the 1.5-liter turbo hot-rod, which will come in the top-of-the-line Sport Touring trim. We can now talk about the differences between the new car and the 10th-generation Honda Civic Hatchback. The 2022 Civic hatch’s back end is what first struck us about it. The old model’s twin spoilers were gone. This makes the car look more coupe-like and emphasizes the sleek new design.

The Civic’s rump is not the only styling change. Honda also modified the panel that mates hood and grille. It now has a reverse-slanted angle, which contrasts well with the Civic sedan’s Accord-like vertical panel. The honeycomb pattern on the grille is unique. Take note, armchair designers: This car is a wonderful example of how to distinguish similar vehicles with very few parts changes.

The new unadorned hatch, which is the actual hatch door, is made from resin (don’t refer to it as “plastic”–the Honda people get annoyed). This allows for a lighter hatch using very spindly hinges with larger openings. This is especially important because Honda believes that a lot of Civic hatch buyers will be using it to transport cargo, rather than people.

Honda did not have exact cargo measurements, but Honda said that we could expect a cargo volume slightly smaller than the older car but still tops in class. The cargo gap created by folding down the rear seats reminds us of the Death Star landing deck. Chewie could return the Millennium Falcon to that place blind drunken and his one-paw in his bandolier. The seats can’t be folded down flat so he’d need to bring some chocks.

Interior

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback’s interior is almost identical to the sedan’s. The honeycomb pattern concealing the air vents is a nice touch. We also like the quality of the switchgear. The metal trim on the window switches and climate-control knobs is a nice touch, making it seem like the Civic is a more expensive car than it actually is. The Civic is now the entry-level Honda car, replacing the Fit.

Engine

The Honda 2022 Civic Hatchback will be available in four trims. The 158-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will be available in the LX and Sport models. The 2.0-liter engine is available with either a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) in the former, or a six-speed stick (SPORT TOURING). The 180-hp turbo engine of the 1.5-liter turbo engine is available in the EX-L and Sport Touring. The EX-L has an automatic transmission, while the Sport Touring comes with a stick.

Changes

Honda spoke of a more sporty driving experience for the 2022 Civic Hatchback. However, we expect the differences between the sedan and hatchback to be minimal. The Hatchback models have a more aggressive tire and a stiffer structure than the sedans. Team Japan did not provide any details to our U.S. Honda contacts regarding specific chassis or suspension changes. We are fine with the minor changes, even though the Civic sedan is already a very well-driving car.

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Release Date

Another interesting fact: The new Civic Hatchback is being built in Greensburg (Indiana). We support more U.S.-market vehicles being built in America. This also allows Honda to adjust its model mix according to which body style is most popular. The new 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback looks great and has some innovative ideas. We are not sure how the more modern look will be received by the younger people to whom this hatch is intended to appeal. The Civic Hatchback’s close resemblance with the Civic Type R was what made it popular among children.

Honda has announced that the 2022 Civic Hatchback will be available for purchase later in the year. We will have more details and specifications closer to the date of on-sale. And, of course, we’ll be able to take a test drive.
